Description
HD Hyundai Heavy Industries delivered BRP Miguel Malvar (FFG-06) to the Philippine Navy in April 2025, the first of two guided-missile frigates ordered under the second phase of the Horizon 2 modernisation programme. Based on the HDC-3100 design, the 118-metre ship displaces about 3,200 tonnes and is armed with anti-ship missiles, vertical-launch surface-to-air missiles, a 76 mm main gun and torpedo tubes. She represents a significant step up in capability over the earlier Jose Rizal-class corvettes and is named after a general of the Philippine Revolution.
