Description
BRP Miguel Malvar (FFG-06) was commissioned into the Philippine Navy's Offshore Combat Force in May 2025, becoming the most capable surface combatant in the fleet. Built by HD Hyundai Heavy Industries to the HDC-3100 design, the 118-metre ship carries anti-ship missiles, vertical-launch surface-to-air missiles, a 76 mm main gun and lightweight torpedoes, with a flight deck and hangar for a naval helicopter. Her entry into service came amid sustained tension with China in the West Philippine Sea and preceded her sister ship Diego Silang by seven months.
