Russia Navy Afanasy Ivannikov Commissioned

The Project 12700 (Alexandrit-class) mine countermeasures vessel Afanasy Ivannikov was commissioned into the Russian Navy at a ceremony in Saint Petersburg on 7 May 2025, Baird Maritime reported. She is the ninth ship of the class built by the Sredne-Nevsky Shipbuilding Plant. The 61-metre, 890-tonne vessels have glass-reinforced plastic hulls to reduce their magnetic signature and operate remote-controlled and autonomous underwater vehicles to find and neutralise mines.
