Description
BNS Pankouri was commissioned at Khulna Naval Berth on 26 June 2025 together with sister vessels BNS Gangchil and BNS Machranga, the first diving support boats built indigenously at Khulna Shipyard Limited. The Chief of Naval Staff presided over the ceremony, handing over command orders to the respective commanding officers and unveiling the vessels' nameplates. The roughly 260-tonne Pankouri class supports diving, salvage and underwater maintenance tasks as part of the Bangladesh Navy's push toward a fully indigenous three-dimensional maritime capability, following earlier Khulna-built additions such as the Shah Jalal-class diving and salvage tender.
