Description
The Sibarau-class patrol boat KRI Siliman (848) sank in the Belawan channel off North Sumatra on 28 September 2025 after a fire broke out in her engine room, according to an Indonesian Navy incident report cited by Janes. The vessel was anchored at Buoy 4 during a surveillance patrol in the Strait of Malacca when the crew detected flames at about 8:20 p.m. local time and began firefighting; nearby tugboats joined the effort, but the blaze could not be contained and the boat sank. All 21 personnel aboard were rescued by the tugs and the navy auxiliary KAL Tarihu. The Sibarau class consists of former Australian Attack-class patrol boats.
