India Navy INS Ikshak Commissioned

INS Ikshak was commissioned at Naval Base Kochi on 6 November 2025, the third of four Survey Vessel Large ships built by Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers. The 110-metre, 3,400-tonne ship carries a full hydrographic suite including multi-beam echo sounders, an autonomous underwater vehicle and survey motor boats, and can operate a helicopter. Beyond charting Indian waters and the exclusive economic zone, the class can be used for search and rescue and as a hospital ship in humanitarian operations. Her name means 'guide' in Sanskrit.
