Description
INS Mahe was commissioned at Naval Dockyard Mumbai on 24 November 2025, the lead ship of the Mahe class and the first anti-submarine warfare shallow water craft built by Cochin Shipyard. Eight units of the class were ordered as the Cochin-built half of the sixteen-ship ASW-SWC programme, complementing the Arnala class from Garden Reach Shipbuilders. The 78-metre vessel displaces about 1,100 tonnes, carries lightweight torpedoes, anti-submarine rockets and a low-frequency variable-depth sonar, and is named after the coastal town in Puducherry.
