Philippines Navy Miguel Malvar-class Ordered

HD Hyundai Heavy Industries and the Philippine Department of National Defense signed a contract in Manila on 26 December 2025 for two 3,200-tonne frigates based on the HDF-3200 design, Naval News reported. Worth about 34 billion pesos (585 million dollars), the order is a repeat of the Miguel Malvar-class ships already delivered by the yard, with delivery of both frigates due by 2029. The new ships are expected to carry a similar fit to the existing class, including a 16-cell vertical launching system for VL MICA missiles and eight C-Star anti-ship missile launchers, according to the same report.
