Description
The hydrographic and oceanographic survey vessel KRI Canopus (936) was commissioned on 12 February 2026 at the Abeking & Rasmussen facility in Lemwerder, Germany. The hull was built by PT Palindo Marine at Batam in Indonesia before being transferred to Germany for final outfitting and integration of its survey suite. At 105 metres and about 3,400 tonnes with a top speed of 16 knots, she is the largest survey vessel ever operated by the Indonesian Navy and significantly extends the service's capacity to chart the archipelago's waters and support submarine and amphibious operations.
