Description
LÉ Samuel Beckett struck the quayside at Sir John Rogerson's Quay in Dublin on the morning of 27 February 2026 while departing on patrol. The Defence Forces assessed the damage as "slight," requiring only minor repairs before the vessel could resume its Maritime Defence Security Operation patrol duties; no repair timeline was given and no injuries were reported. Footage of the incident circulated on social media. The lead ship of the Samuel Beckett-class offshore patrol vessels, commissioned in 2014, the incident came days after Ireland launched its first National Maritime Security Strategy.
