Iran Navy IRIS Sabalan Sunk

Sunk at Bandar Abbas Naval Harbor during the opening strikes of Operation Epic Fury on the night of 28 February 2026. The loss was initially an assessment rather than a confirmation: The Telegraph still listed her as "suspected sunk" on 3 March, and CENTCOM subsequently released photographs showing Sabalan and her sister ship Alvand sunk following the strikes on Bandar Abbas. British-built Alvand-class frigate launched in 1969 by Vickers at Barrow-in-Furness, Sabalan was severely damaged during Operation Praying Mantis in April 1988, when a U.S. A-6 Intruder dropped a laser-guided bomb into her smokestack, but was repaired and returned to service.
