Description
The Project 12700 (Alexandrit-class) mine countermeasures vessel Polyarny was commissioned into the Russian Navy at a ceremony in Baltiysk on 30 April 2026 and assigned to the Northern Fleet, Baird Maritime reported. She is the tenth ship of the class built by the Sredne-Nevsky Shipbuilding Plant, following Afanasy Ivannikov in May 2025. Like her sisters, she is 61 metres long, displaces about 890 tonnes and has a glass-reinforced plastic hull to reduce her magnetic signature.
