Description
Former Royal Netherlands Navy minehunter HNLMS Makkum (M857), transferred to the Ukrainian Navy and renamed Henichesk with pennant number M314 at a handover ceremony on 15 June 2026. Third Tripartite-class (Alkmaar-class) minehunter delivered to Ukraine, following the early 2025 transfers of Mariupol (ex-Narcis) from Belgium and Melitopol (ex-Vlaardingen) from the Netherlands, and the fifth Western-built mine countermeasures vessel in Ukrainian service alongside the Sandown-class Chernihiv and Cherkasy. Decommissioned from the Dutch fleet in November 2024 after nearly 40 years of service during which it neutralized over 120 explosive devices in the North Sea. Named after the occupied Ukrainian city of Henichesk on the Azov coast.
