Romania Navy Contraamiral August Roman Commissioned

Commissioned into the Romanian Naval Forces at Istanbul Naval Shipyard on 20 June 2026, in a ceremony attended by the presidents of both countries. Built as TCG Akhisar, lead ship of Turkey's Hisar-class offshore patrol vessels, she was purchased by Romania in December 2025 for 223 million euros, marking Turkey's first warship export to a NATO and EU member state. Renamed Contraamiral August Roman with pennant number 261, the corvette was assigned to the 50th Corvette Divizion and arrived at her home port of Constanța on 10 July 2026. She is Romania's first newly built warship acquisition in 35 years.
