Description
Decommissioned on 13 July 2026, one of three vessels the Royal Navy withdrew in a single announcement citing the escalating cost and risk of sustaining older ships. Commissioned on 22 June 1995, the anti-submarine Type 23 had escorted HMS Prince of Wales on the Carrier Strike Group's Indo-Pacific deployment in 2025. In March 2024 she recorded the first operational kills for the Sea Ceptor missile, downing two Houthi attack drones in the Red Sea, and in 2025 became the third Royal Navy warship fitted with the Naval Strike Missile. Her loss left the frigate flotilla at five hulls.
