Description
Officially retired on 13 July 2026 in the same announcement that withdrew HMS Iron Duke and HMS Richmond. The minehunter had already been laid up at Portsmouth in extended readiness, serving as a source of spare parts for the remaining Hunt-class vessels. Commissioned in October 1984, she spent much of the previous two decades forward-deployed to Bahrain on Operation Kipion, returning to the UK after colliding with HMS Bangor off the Bahraini coast on 19 January 2024. Her retirement reduced the Royal Navy's mine countermeasures force to five Hunt-class ships and a single Sandown-class minehunter.
