Description
Handed over to the Indian Navy at Visakhapatnam on 30 July 2026, a year after sister ship INS Nistar. Nipun is the second and final vessel of the class, built by Hindustan Shipyard with about 80 percent indigenous content under a contract signed in September 2018 and launched in September 2022. The 9,350-tonne, 118.4-metre ship carries deep-sea saturation diving equipment, a side diving stage and remotely operated vehicles, and serves as a mother ship for the Navy's deep-submergence rescue vehicle. Its delivery completes the indigenous submarine rescue capability planned for both Indian coasts.
