Description
Bulgaria's National Assembly ratified the sale and transfer agreements for seven Tripartite-class minehunters on 26 August 2026, clearing the second reading by 162 votes to six. Four hulls come from Belgium — Bellis, Crocus, Lobelia and Primula — and three are bought from the Netherlands: Schiedam, Zierikzee and Willemstad. Sofia covers the refit to NATO standard, put at up to six million euros per ship, and the first Belgian vessel is expected between September and October 2026. The class already forms the core of Bulgarian mine countermeasures with three hulls in service; the transfer takes the minehunter force from three to ten for Black Sea clearance work.
