Description
Handed over by TKMS at a send-off ceremony in Kiel on 1 September 2026, where an Israeli flag was raised aboard, and sailed for Israel the same day. INS Drakon is the third and final Dolphin II boat, built with hybrid air-independent fuel-cell propulsion allowing several weeks submerged, and the sixth submarine of the Israeli Navy overall. She is distinguished from her sisters by an enlarged sail widely assessed as housing vertical launch tubes for a new missile, and was launched at Kiel on 12 November 2024. A commissioning ceremony is expected later at Haifa. Construction of three follow-on Dakar-class boats began at the same yard in November 2024.
