Taiwan Navy ROCS Lan Yang Sunk

The decommissioned frigate ex-ROCS Lan Yang (FFG-935) was sunk as the main target ship on 18 September 2026, the final day of the armed forces' three-day joint precision munitions live-fire exercise, the Liberty Times reported. Footage released by the Presidential Office showed the hulk taking hits from several types of missile before erupting in flames and smoke. The drill had opened on 16 September with simulated air-defence intercepts, followed by long-range strike and new air-defence weapon trials, with several retired hulls used as targets. Lan Yang had been decommissioned in January 2025 after almost 30 years of Taiwanese service, so the sinking removes no ship from the active fleet.
