Overview
- Kenya Army (Jeshi la Nchi Kavu): Conducts land operations and ground defense, with headquarters located at Waterworks Camp in Hurlingham, Nairobi. Formations include light infantry brigades, armored reconnaissance units, artillery regiments, and engineer brigades, alongside specialized units like the Special Forces Group and Ranger Strike Force. Operates armored combat vehicles and artillery platforms for border security, counter-terrorism missions, and regional peacekeeping deployments.
- Kenya Air Force (Jeshi la Wanahewa): Conducts aerial warfare, airspace monitoring, and tactical air support for ground operations. Headquarters is located at Moi Air Base in Eastleigh, Nairobi, with combat aircraft operations based at Laikipia Air Base in Nanyuki. Operates fighter jets, transport aircraft, attack helicopters, and utility rotary platforms assigned to air interdiction, reconnaissance, and troop airlift operations.
- Kenya Navy (Jeshi la Wanamaji): Conducts maritime defense, coastal surveillance, and search-and-rescue operations across territorial waters and the exclusive economic zone. Headquarters is located at Mtongwe Naval Base in Mombasa, supported by a secondary base at Manda Bay. Operates offshore patrol vessels, fast attack craft, clearance diving teams, and the Marine Ranger Regiment for amphibious assault and counter-piracy operations.
