Description
A Tunisian Air Force helicopter crashed on 3 January 2022 in the Bizerte governorate while on a routine reconnaissance mission. According to the defence ministry, as reported by Reuters and AFP, the co-pilot died at the scene and the pilot, severely injured, died in a regional hospital in Bizerte. The ministry did not give a cause. Aviation Safety Network records the aircraft as an Agusta-Bell AB 205A, the Italian-built Huey variant in Tunisian service, noting that early social media posts called it a UH-1. The helicopter was destroyed.
