Republic of China Air Force Mirage 2000 Crash

A Republic of China Air Force Mirage 2000-5 crashed into the sea about 10 nautical miles south of Chihhang Air Base, Taitung, on 14 March 2022. Reuters reported that the jet took off on a training mission and returned toward base after a mechanical problem; the pilot ejected and was picked up by an Army helicopter, in good condition. Taiwan News reported that the air force denied claims that the jet was intercepting Chinese aircraft. The Mirage fleet was grounded pending an investigation. It was the second ROCAF fighter lost in three months.
