Description
The Swedish Air Force formally took delivery of its first three Grob G120TP basic trainers at a handover ceremony at Malmen Air Base near Linköping, three weeks after the aircraft were ferried into the country. Designated Sk 40 in Swedish service, they are the first of ten on order and begin the replacement of the Sk 60, a jet trainer that had flown since the 1960s and was becoming costly to sustain. The turboprop is used for basic flying training at the air force flying school, before students move on to advanced training and conversion to the Gripen.
