Royal Canadian Air Force CH-47F Crash

A Royal Canadian Air Force CH-147F Chinook crashed into the Ottawa River near Garrison Petawawa during a nighttime training flight with four aircrew aboard. Two were recovered from the water with minor injuries; the Department of National Defence said the bodies of the two missing crew members were later found. Flight-safety investigators began recovering evidence from the submerged wreckage. Petawawa is home to 450 Tactical Helicopter Squadron, which operates Canada's medium-to-heavy lift Chinook fleet in support of army formations, and the unit's flying was paused while the investigation got under way.
