United States Air Force CV-22 Damaged

Two United States Air Force CV-22 Ospreys struck rotor blades at Inyokern Airfield, California, while one aircraft was backing into a parking position. Investigators found that the manoeuvring crew did not maintain adequate clearance and that nonstandard marshalling, poor ramp conditions and weak oversight contributed to the accident. One ground crew member was injured and the two aircraft sustained about $2.5 million in combined repairable damage. The CV-22 is the Air Force Special Operations Command variant of the tiltrotor, flown for long-range infiltration, resupply and personnel recovery missions.
