United States Marine Corps MV-22 Crash

A United States Marine Corps MV-22B Osprey crashed on Melville Island in Australia's Northern Territory during Exercise Predators' Run, a multinational training activity. The aircraft was carrying twenty-three service members; three were killed and twenty were injured, several of them critically, and survivors were flown to hospital in Darwin. The Marine Corps investigation later found that pilot decisions and inadequate risk management contributed to the mishap, and praised the rescue effort mounted at the scene. The Osprey was operating with Marine Rotational Force Darwin, the annual deployment that brings Marines to northern Australia.
