Kenya Air Force UH-1H Crash

A Kenya Air Force Huey crashed at night in Boni Forest, in Lamu County near the Somali border, while flying a patrol in support of Operation Amani Boni, the long-running Kenyan campaign against al-Shabaab in the coastal forest. Kenyan defence and police officials said at least eight people aboard were killed. The cause was not established, and the defence department sent a board of inquiry to the site. Kenyan reporting identified the aircraft only as a Huey; the air force operates a small number of UH-1H utility helicopters in the light transport, patrol and casualty evacuation roles.
