Description
An Austrian Air Force Bell 212 landed normally near Pramet, in Upper Austria, for a training exercise and overturned during a subsequent takeoff, catching fire immediately afterwards. One of the three flight rescuers aboard was pinned beneath the helicopter and seriously injured before the rest of the crew freed him; all six occupants were taken to hospital and later discharged. The armed forces said the destroyed airframe could have remained in service until 2041. The Bell 212 has been Austria's principal medium military helicopter for decades, flying mountain rescue, disaster relief and transport tasks across the Alps.
