Kenya Air Force Mi-171 Crash

A Kenya Air Force Mi-171E crashed while taking off from Buna, in Wajir North constituency in the north-east of the country, shortly after delivering relief supplies to communities affected by flooding. All crew and passengers left the aircraft, several with injuries, and the defence forces said the cause would be established by an inquiry. The helicopter was one of three Mi-171E acquired in 2010 and its loss left the type close to unserviceable within the fleet. A second, civilian-operated helicopter came down at Wajir airport the same afternoon in an unrelated accident.
