Spanish Air Force C295/CN235 Ordered

Spain's Ministry of Defence ordered sixteen C295 aircraft in maritime patrol and maritime surveillance configurations, in a contract worth about 1.7 billion euros that also covered training systems and initial logistical support. The aircraft are intended for long-range patrol, anti-submarine warfare, search and rescue and surveillance of Spain's exclusive economic zone, roles previously covered by the CN-235 VIGMA and by the retired P-3 Orion fleet. The C295 is assembled at Airbus's plant in Seville, and the order reinforced the industrial base for a type Spain has both operated and exported widely.
