Description
A Royal Malaysian Navy AS555 Fennec collided in flight with a Navy AW139 during a rehearsal for the service's anniversary parade over Lumut naval base, Perak, on 23 April 2024. The Fennec crashed into a swimming pool and the AW139 onto a running track; the Navy said all ten people aboard the two helicopters were killed, three of them in the Fennec. The Navy's investigation board found that the Fennec was not at its designated altitude and heading and had entered the AW139's path, and that the AW139 crew, focused on a change of direction, could not react in time. Weather, maintenance and crew fitness were ruled out as factors.
