Malawi Defence Force Air Wing Dornier 228 Crash

A Malawi Defence Force Dornier 228 struck terrain in the Chikangawa Forest Reserve while flying from Lilongwe to Mzuzu. Air traffic control had advised the crew not to land at Mzuzu because of poor weather and visibility. Malawi’s government confirmed that all nine occupants, including the vice-president and two crew members, were killed. Later safety analysis found that the aircraft entered instrument conditions after operating in marginal visual conditions.
