Description
On 1 July 2024 a Russian Iskander-M ballistic missile struck Myrhorod air base in Poltava Oblast after a Russian reconnaissance drone filmed at least six Ukrainian Su-27 fighters parked in the open. According to Forbes, two of the Su-27s were destroyed and the other four were damaged. The Russian Defence Ministry claimed five Su-27s destroyed and two damaged, according to Al Jazeera, while a Ukrainian Air Force spokesman acknowledged losses but said the Russian figures were exaggerated. The extent of the damage to the four aircraft and whether they returned to service was not disclosed.
