Ukrainian Air Force Su-27 Destroyed

On 1 July 2024 a Russian Iskander-M ballistic missile struck Myrhorod air base in Poltava Oblast after a Russian reconnaissance drone filmed at least six Ukrainian Su-27 fighters parked in the open. According to Forbes, two Su-27s were destroyed and the other four damaged; Oryx documented the two destroyed airframes from the Russian footage. The Russian Defence Ministry claimed five Su-27s destroyed and two damaged, according to Al Jazeera and The Moscow Times, while a Ukrainian Air Force spokesman acknowledged losses but said the Russian figures were exaggerated, and the Air Force commander later said decoys had been hit.
