Description
A Republic of China Air Force Mirage 2000 crashed into the sea off Hsinchu County at about 20:35 on 10 September 2024 during a night training exercise. The Ministry of National Defense said the aircraft suffered a suspected loss of power; the pilot ejected and was picked up by a Coast Guard vessel about two hours later in stable condition, with bruises but no serious injuries. Taiwan received 60 Mirage 2000-5 fighters from France from 1997, and at least seven had been lost in accidents before this crash, according to the Taipei Times. The fleet was grounded for inspections after the accident.
