Russian Air Force An-12 Destroyed

On June 1, 2025, a Russian Air Force An-12 "Cub" transport aircraft was destroyed at Olenya Air Base during a coordinated Ukrainian drone offensive known as "Operation Spiderweb." Executed by the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU), the strike utilized first-person-view (FPV) loitering munitions. Technical reports indicate these UAVs integrated AI-enabled autonomous navigation to maintain mission profiles despite signal interference. Post-strike satellite imagery from Maxar and Planet Labs confirmed the total loss of the airframe, identifying wreckage and scorch marks at its previous station. This loss underscores the tactical effectiveness of AI-integrated UAVs against Russian military transport and logistics infrastructure.
