Description
Switzerland reduced its F-35A procurement from 36 aircraft to about 30. The Federal Department of Defence said in December 2025 that the order would be cut after the United States indicated that the price would exceed the roughly CHF 6 billion Switzerland had understood to be fixed, citing inflation and higher raw-material costs, according to MiGFlug, and Army Recognition reported that the Federal Council confirmed the reduction to around 30 aircraft on 6 March 2026 rather than find about CHF 1.1 billion in additional funding. The first eight jets are due at Ebbing Air National Guard Base, Arkansas, for pilot training in mid-2027, with deliveries to Switzerland from 2028.
