Description
On the night of 14–15 May 2026, Ukraine's Unmanned Systems Forces 1st Separate Center struck Yeysk military airfield in Russia's Krasnodar Krai. A Russian Naval Aviation Be-200PS Altair amphibious aircraft was set ablaze and destroyed; satellite imagery analyzed by open-source OSINT analysts confirmed complete loss of the airframe. The strike was part of a wider Ukrainian retaliatory campaign following Russia's large-scale aerial bombardment of Kyiv on 14 May, which killed at least nine civilians. According to Ukrainian sources, the Be-200 is the first of its type confirmed destroyed in the war. Russia fields only a handful of these rare jet-powered amphibious aircraft in military service.
