Description
A Pakistan Air Force JF-17 Thunder single-seat fighter crashed near the Pakistan Aeronautical Complex (PAC) at Kamra, Attock district, Punjab, on May 19, 2026, during a routine training sortie. The aircraft suffered a technical malfunction mid-flight and the pilot ejected successfully, sustaining serious injuries requiring medical treatment. No civilian casualties were reported as the aircraft impacted in a non-residential area. The crash occurred one day before a separate FT-7PG trainer crash near Mianwali, reigniting concerns about the reliability of Chinese-origin aircraft in Pakistan's fleet. A PAF investigation was initiated.
