Description

A United States Air Force T-6A Texan II trainer assigned to Vance Air Force Base, Oklahoma, conducted an emergency belly landing at McConnell Air Force Base, Wichita, Kansas, on May 19, 2026, after the landing gear failed to deploy. Both pilots exited the aircraft uninjured and were checked by McConnell medical personnel. The aircraft sustained damage but no fire occurred. The incident came one week after a T-38C trainer crashed in Alabama, and on the same day the Air Force announced an operational pause for the T-38 Talon fleet following that accident. A board of officers was appointed to formally investigate the landing gear failure.
