United Arab Emirates Air Force C-390 Ordered

The United Arab Emirates placed an order for up to 20 Embraer C-390 Millennium tactical transport aircraft, the largest export order recorded for the type. The C-390 offers jet-powered speed and a 26-tonne payload with a rear ramp sized for outsized cargo, and is offered in the KC-390 aerial refuelling configuration. The order positions the aircraft to replace and expand Emirati airlift capacity currently provided by C-130H and C-17 fleets. It followed a period in which the C-390 won a series of European competitions, and gave Embraer a foothold in a Gulf market long dominated by American airlifters.
