Description
On June 16, 2026, around 19:00, a Su-24M frontline bomber of the Ukrainian Air Force's 7th Tactical Aviation Brigade crashed in Khmelnytskyi Oblast, western Ukraine, killing both crew members. The Air Force confirmed the loss, saying rescue and law-enforcement teams responded to the site with no civilian casualties reported. The causes are under investigation, with no indication of enemy fire; the crash occurred in a rear region far from the front line. The Soviet-era swing-wing bomber remains in active Ukrainian service for strike missions in the war with Russia, where attrition of the ageing Su-24 fleet has been steady.
