Ukrainian Air Force Gripen E Ordered

Ukraine and Sweden signed a contract worth about 2.5 billion US dollars for 16 new-build Saab Gripen E fighters, with deliveries running to 2029. The agreement converts a spring letter of intent into firm orders and represents the first concrete phase of a Ukrainian programme envisaging more than 100 aircraft, with officials describing a long-term ambition of up to 150. It sits alongside a separate Swedish pledge to donate up to 16 older Gripen C/D airframes. The Gripen E brings an active electronically scanned array radar, an extensive electronic warfare suite and Meteor missile capability to the Ukrainian Air Force.
