German Air Force Global 5000/6000 Ordered

The German procurement office BAAINBw contracted Lufthansa Technik on 22 July 2026 to procure and equip a second-hand Bombardier Global 6000 as a training aircraft for the PEGASUS airborne signals intelligence programme, ESuT reported from the award notice published on the EU tenders platform in August. The aircraft is used because new Global 6000s are no longer produced, and unlike the three PEGASUS mission aircraft it carries no reconnaissance sensors; it will train pilots and system operators. Delivery was due by the end of September 2026, and the contract was awarded directly on security grounds.
