Description
Struck on 21 July 2026 at Khalino airfield, roughly 7 km east of Kursk, in a drone raid carried out by Ukraine's 15th Separate Artillery Reconnaissance Brigade. Reconnaissance UAV footage released by the Ukrainian General Staff shows a strike drone flying into one of two MiG-29s parked side by side and detonating, followed by a second drone hitting a Pantsir-S1 air defence system deployed to protect the base. Khalino hosts the 14th Fighter Aviation Regiment of the 105th Mixed Aviation Division. Ukrainian sources put the combined value of the two systems at about $45 million. Russia has not commented on the strike.
