Description

An L-39 Albatros jet trainer operated by the 797th Training Aviation Regiment crashed on 27 July 2026 near Kushchyovskaya, in Russia's Krasnodar Krai, during a training sortie. Reports indicate the aircraft went down while the crew was flying aerobatic manoeuvres at low altitude. The airframe was destroyed and both occupants were killed, according to the Aviation Safety Network, which compiled the account from Russian Telegram channels; the Russian Defence Ministry had not issued an official statement at the time of reporting. Kushchyovskaya hosts training units subordinate to the Krasnodar Higher Military Aviation School, and L-39 training flights are routine in the region.
