Niger Air Force Mi-24/35 Delivered

The Nigerien Armed Forces received two Mi-24V attack helicopters donated by Algeria on 9 August 2026, the aircraft flying in to Niamey airport from the Algerian deployment base at In Guezzam. Algerian transport aircraft delivered type-specific ammunition, spare parts and support equipment with them. The delivery roughly triples Niger's operational Hind strength, a capability the air arm has struggled to sustain against jihadist insurgencies in the Tillaberi and Diffa regions. Niamey has broadened its military partnerships since the 2023 coup and the departure of French and United States forces from the country.
