Description
Ukraine's General Staff said on 2 September that a Russian Ka-27 helicopter had been destroyed near Yeysk Air Base in Krasnodar Krai during the strike of 30 August, after what it called an analysis of additional data. Ukraine's Unmanned Systems Forces said the same raid destroyed a Pantsir-S1 air defence system and a Sopka-2 radar and hit an aviation weapons depot. The Institute for the Study of War reported geolocated footage of a fire at the airfield and NASA FIRMS heat anomalies over the base, but recorded no aircraft loss. Yeysk hosts the 859th Centre for Combat Employment and Retraining of Naval Aviation Flight Personnel. Russia's Defence Ministry has not commented.
