Description
Two Su-35S fighters collided in mid-air over Kursk Oblast on 7 September 2026, both airframes being lost. The aircraft were flying at altitude, away from any airfield, when the collision occurred. One pilot was killed; the other ejected and was seriously injured. The loss was first reported by Russian military aviation Telegram channels and by the local outlet Pepel.Kursk, with further Russian channels confirming that both aircraft were destroyed. The Russian Ministry of Defence has issued no statement and the cause has not been established. Kursk Oblast borders Ukraine and hosts combat air operations, but no source has linked the collision to enemy action.
